Sunday March 16th? Geez where has time gone?
Well this blog isn't going to start out on a very positive note, but I promise that it gets better, keep reading!
I wanted to start out with some prayer requests, the times we are living in are changing and I am finding that a lot of people close to me are in need of prayer. I truly believe that the more people praying to our amazing GOD about these things the better :) so here's my list....
1. Tomorrow my sister Dawn is going to have a tumor removed from her abdomen. They fear it to be cancerous. She is a diabetic and recently suffered a mild heart attack and has MS. Seriously, she has been through so much. They have given her a 50/50 chance, but I know my GOD and I know my sister, stubborn and strong, she will make it through this and be able to get her SURVIVOR tattoo! She has two sons, and two grandchildren.
2. A family that I am close with lost their brother to a heart attack on Sunday. He was in his early 40s. They are planning a memorial for him on Saturday June 7th.
3. A dear friend of mine has filed for divorce. She is an amazing woman with so much strength that has struggled with DIVORCE as a christian woman. She has read the scriptures and prayed for years, but her husbands heart is so hardened that she has decided to file.
4. A couple from our church is having issues with the adoption process in another country.
wow I think I will be compiling a list for the next couple of days. I thank you for praying for these families and I will be sure to update you.
On to the Mary Kay part of my post :)
WOW June 30th is the last day of our Mary Kay year and I am soooo close to earning a 4 carat amethyst ring! I have a huge goal to get 45 women's opinion of our products by June 30th, so I am offering $75 in product for $25 for all of my hostesses through June! I will definitely keep you updated!
I appreciate each and every one of you that has supported me and my business this last year! Because of you I am #1 in my unit for Sales and Team Building!! There are over 100 women in my unit and I am #1 thanks to all of you! :)
Have a great week!

It's been a while!
Amy reminded me at BUNCO that I haven't posted in a while, so here it goes!
My 10 show week was tons of fun! It actually turned out to be a 7 show week, but I put Mary Kay products on 27 women and sold over $700! It was so much fun to meet new people and spend time with friends! Thank you again to all who helped! I thought you would like to know how flexible my business is, so here are a few examples of some of the classes that I did that week! On Monday I had a skin care class at the Mason County Courthouse! I have a couple of customers in the County Clerks office so I went down there hoping that three of the ladies would be available. HAHA it just happened to be their lunch time and three of them tried my skin care (I brought warm wash cloths because I wasn't sure about the sink situation!) and the mineral powder foundation. That night is my success meeting and I had only one guest confirmed, and with two more guests it would be considered a class, so I called one of my good girlfriends (thanks Jennifer!) and she was able to come so I dragged my mother in law along to make 3, another class! The next day I had my BNI (business networking international) meeting and I had sent home samples of the men's skin care line with the men in my group, but they hadn't taken the time to try it, so I asked three of the men to wash their faces in the bathroom there at the restaurant after the meeting! We meet at the Cloverleaf Bar and Grill in Bremerton! 3 businessmen helped me out by taking the same bar of soap into the bathroom and washing their faces! AMAZING what will happen when you have a goal! The next night I had a get ready for bed party at my good friend Jenny's house and we all wore our PJ's which is definitely not something I would normally wear to a skin care class! I knew that they were all going to be wearing PJ's so I did to and it was so much fun! I did end up going into Fred Meyer that night, in my PJ's at 10pm and I actually saw a customer of mine! oh what type of explaining I would have to do if she saw me! :) Thursday at MOPS we announced that Stephanie was hostessing a skin care class at my house that afternoon and that kids were welcome! So at 2:00 I had 3 babies playing on the floor and 4 or 5 toddlers playing (while Riley slept!) and 7 mommies getting facials! On Saturday I went to a baby shower for one of my girlfriends I have known since we were 1 and got to facial her mom and grandma that night afterwards at 11:30 at night! WOW what a great week. I worked about 12 hours and made $27 an hour! I honestly worked the same amount of time that I have scheduled to work every week, I didn't spend any extra time away from my kids and family than I would if I actually worked every time I have scheduled!
The thing I am most excited about this week is that we have great new products out, you can check them out on my website: www.marykay.com/hughest
I hope you all have a great day tomorrow and I'll post more often!

A Busy Bee
WOW what a week I am having! The women around me are so eager to help me reach my goal of 10 classes this week! So far I have held 6 ( Actually I counted wrong it's 7 since saturday!!) classes since Saturday! I have pamperd 23 women and sold over $550!! I have another class tonight (actually she cancelled, so I might be calling you tonight!!) which will make 7, I am not sure how the other 3 are going to happen tomorrow, but I am going to do all that I can and work until the last minute in order to achieve this goal. So the numbers/statistics of my week are great, but what I have enjoyed the most is meeting so many new people! I love meeting new women and Mary Kay has been the vehicle to so many friendships! This week has been a little bit crazy, but soooo much fun. I miss my hubby and my kids a lot though, but a short term sacrifice for a long term gain is always worth it! Thank you to everyone who has helped me out and to those of you who have been so supportive of my goal! I'll update you again soon!

350 Calories
That is how many calories I burned tonight on my elliptical machine! Not to mention the 110 grams of fat! Woohoo, that will even out the peanut buster parfait I had from Dairy Queen tonight!
I had my first of 10 classes this afternoon! I had tons of fun! I love to meet new people and see the smiles on their faces when they feel good and love Mary Kay products! Thank you Jami!

SCREAMING
Screaming has been all I have heard out of Riley for most of the day. I don't know for sure what is wrong with him, he might have a sore mouth, but that seems unlikely. I have tried cuddling, talking, playing and even singing, but he is screaming hysterically. How am I writing this blog? you ask. I gave him his pacifier and put him back to bed, but now he is screaming at the gate on his door. I just tried calling Terry and letting him talk to Riley because he has this way with Riley. Riley hardly ever whines and cries when Terry is home, but with mommy it is a normal thing? I do not put up with it and allow him to follow me around crying or whining and if nothing is working then I put him in his room and let him cry it out for a while, when I go to get him he is usually okay. So, how then does he think that he is getting away with it, and that I allow it? I guess I will go see if he is done. Wish me luck? (pray for me!)

Not tonight
I am soooo tired tonight. I know that I should work out, but I want one night off! I feel like it has been go, go, go, in fact I have been gone every night this week. I will not get out of the habit though!
Tonight I went to a housewarming/unfinished objects party and it was so awesome to spend more time with the women from MOPS. WE laughed a lot, ate a lot and Steph even tried on Michelle's wedding dress! I got to finish a memo/photo board craft that I never finished at mops. I made it purple for Taylor, she'll love to hang up her artwork on it!
I made an awesome cheesecake, I don't know if it was as good as Toby says Kristen's is, but I baked it myself and it was delicious!
I hope that you all take the time to fellowship with people you enjoy being around, it is really refreshing to have true girlfriends, not the high school/college drama stuff!
I'll post again tomorrow!

BUT my feet are sore...
WOW another great workout! I wasn't going to work out tonight because I got home at 10:45 and my feet were sore from my 3 inch boots I wore for 6 hours today! BUT when I went in the bathroom to do my evening routine, my workout clothes were there. So I put them on and got on my machine for 20 minutes again, now I have batteries in it, so I found out that I burnt over 200 calories and 65 grams of fat woohoo! I also did my crunches and push ups like before, but whew my arms are SORE!
So since monday night I have done my evening routine like this:
workout
shower
night time skin care regimen with cellushape body lotion! :)
vitamins
read/relax
sleep
It feels so great to take care of myself, I feel ready to face the morning and be a better mommy and wife!

Exercise
So as I mentioned before I LOVE food! BUT I have been wanting to get a little toned up and lose a couple dress sizes, you know drop the baby weight LOL. I have this amazing elliptical machine that was given to us that I love to exercise on, but I always had some sort of excuse, I didn't get up early enough, I can't do it in the afternoon when the kids are napping because I get all sweaty and then I would have to take a shower and redo my makeup, it's too late, I am too tired, etc.!
So tonight I decided that I would get on my machine and I plan to do that every night that I can or in the morning when I get up early, any time on the machine is better than nothing. but I did the and then some tonight when I decided I would do sit ups and push ups!!
I did the elliptical for 20 minutes, did 60 crunches and 20 push ups! wooohooo I feel great, but as you can see it is past 11:30 at night because I cannot sleep! That is what I was afraid of, but too bad, I feel great!
I had a busy day, which is usual for a Monday! I am so excited to start making calls tomorrow, I have my dates picked out for my 10 show week, Thursday February 28th through Thursday March 6th! I'll let you know how it is going!

A Great Sunday
We had a great day today! We attended church finally today! It has been atleast 5 or 6 months since we have attended regularly. After having a conversation with Kristen I decided to compare apples to apples....For the past year I have been studying with a Jehovah's Witness and I totally love it, but I was starting to compare my one on one learning experience with Rachael to the sunday services at our church. So I have committed to attending FBC every sunday and getting more involved by joining a small group so that I am getting that personalized teaching from the sermons. I am going to continue to study with Rachael and sometimes attend her meetings at the kingdom hall so that I am able to compare apples to apples, THANK YOU Kristen!
After church we went out to lunch at a place in Olympia that I will not go back to on a Sunday, but I would like to try their regular menu items! Breakfast for lunch was good, but their regular menu looked awesome!
So then we went to the park for a walk. It was awesome, the kids got to run and play and pet dogs. It was such a beautiful day, just perfect for walking! We spent the day with Toby and Kristen and the boys which is always so much fun!
When we got back to the house we planned some events for the next 6 months, like Mothers day, Toby's birthday, camping trips and a 4 day Washington trip that was featured in Family Fun Magazine! I am so glad that Toby and Kristen want to hang out with us as much as we want to hang out with them!
Atleast I think they do!
I ended the day with an awesome conference call for Mary Kay and I was so excited to hear how my director, Donna held a 10 show week! I have committed to do that this week!! I have a huge goal to pick up my diamond ring at Seminar this year, so I need to get into action! A 10 show week will be a perfect way to get started! Let me know if you want to help!
I hope you all enjoyed your day too!

Turkey Dinner
Today we went to Terry's grandmas house for turkey dinner! YUM! It was supposed to be a family event, but we were the only ones that came that don't already live there! I love to take the oppportunity to spend time with family, and since we drove an hour, I expected to stay there all day...haha....
Riley decided that he would start acting up since he only got a 45 minute car nap. Of course he was fine until we decided to sit down and play a game of cards! He actually snuck out the doggy door, okay this door is extra big because papa wanted to be sure that it wasn't too small, kind of like the oh my god size mailbox he bought just to be sure the packages would fit! (boy do I miss him) Anyways the doggy door is just the right size for Riley, who isn't that small by the way! The first time he got a spanking (with my hand, not a fly swatter) of course because he knows better, but then he did it two more times...ahhh the terrible twos showing up early!
So Terry was frustrated with Riley being so bad so we left around 4:30.
I forgot to mention that I wanted to leave around 10 or so to make a day out of it, but Terry and I didn't have any clean pants! haha! Then when we got in the van, the check tire light was still on even though I got it fixed yesterday? So we ended up leaving our house around 11 and then spent an hour at Les Schwab getting our tire fixed AGAIN!
WOW what a great day! :(
Tomorrow will be much better, we are going to FBC in the morning and then the Tarzwell's coming over for a movie afternoon!
Goodnight!

Discipline vs Punishment
I have been attending a parenting class at my church with Pastor Glen Keefe and his wife Lisa. The curriculum is by Chip Ingram called effective parenting in a defective world. There is a DVD and a workbook.
I have lots of thoughts about it that aren't really that organized so I thought I would write them down!
Last week we dove into the topic of discipline vs punishment and I was taken aback. I thought about my parenting style and felt horrible for the way I must make my children feel sometimes.
Here is what was so helpful to me.
The seven steps to discipline:
1. Clear Warning (If, Then)
2. Establish Responsibility (What did you do wrong? acknowledgement)
3. Avoid Embarrassment (Take the child in private, preferably the same place each time if at home)
4. Communicate Grief (It breaks gods heart when we disobey)
5. Flick the wrist (a spanking, if it doesn't hurt it doesn't work)
6. Sincere Repentance (Ask for forgiveness in prayer)
7. Unconditional Love (a time of restoration between child and parent)
I think that I was excited by this model because it is a model and would be easy to follow in most cases. I would be able to be more consistent. I question though how our children would be handled by others if they were to disobey. And what about when they disobey in public?
Someone mentioned to spank, love, pray and restore. Which is a few less steps, but along the same lines of the seven steps above. I think that what appeals to me is that my children would not feel humiliated, I would spend my days giving time outs and spanking in anger at times. As a teenager my mother and I were often called the "yell family" oh how I wished that were not true in my home today. Terry and I both yell, I do more often than him, but it is too often anytime.
In the DVD Chip said that "the hand that loves, prays and caresses never hits", we discussed the "rod " of choice. A fly swatter, spatula, two long glue sticks taped together (yeah, I know weird huh) a wooden spoon, etc. I was in awe wondering what our kids would say someday when I told them that I got the idea of using a fly swatter to spank them with was from a parenting class at church! (by the way I would never use a fly swatter to spank my children, the idea of a wooden spoon sounds better to me!) In the context of the model a wooden spoon and a flick of the wrist seems reasonable, the way we discipline now is so unorganized, sporadic and inconsistent that I would not use a wooden spoon!
Here is the chart that explains the differece between Punishment and Discipline
Punishent vs Discipline
Purpose- To inflict penalty for an offense vs to train for correction and maturity
Focus- Past Misdeeds vs Future correct acts
Attitude- Hostility and frustration on the part of the parent vs Love and concern on the part of the parent.
Resulting emotion in the child - Fear and guilt vs Security
I would much rather use discipline over punishment, it is such a positive focus for our future! Let me know what you think? and no debating spanking because we already believe in that!! I might have just started a debate!

Food
I forgot to mention the fabulous food we had at BUNCO and if you know me, you know that I never forget about food! I am all about food and I usually plan my day around food! If I am going to Port Orchard for the day I think of where I will each lunch and dinner! Gosh I remember being pregnant, I never had any cravings, but the foods that I already loved before being pregnant tasted sooo much better!! Peanut butter and chocolate are among my favorites, but I love to eat almost anything!

BUNCO BUNCO BUNCO
Bunco was tonight at my house! We had 15 players which is a record I think! I love to host these parties, the laughter and fellowship (and of course the yelling and throwing of objects) that fills my home brings me so much joy! These women are mothers of preschoolers that have such an important job to do during the day, they totally deserve the fun and games at BUNCO one night a month. I don't know what their day brought them before they came to my home, all I know is that I pray that they were able to leave it all outside the door and enjoy an evening away from the whining, crying, diaper changing, potty training, etc. Boy I made it sound like that is all we do, of course their is loving, cuddling, reading, kissing, cuddling, praising, etc going on to. I just think that moms need to have time away from their homes, the many hats they wear, and enjoy themselves. Oh geez not that we don't enjoy ourselves at home, but there is something about a room full of screaming, laughing adult women playing BUNCO that I come away from it feeling reenergized and ready for the next day. I know what your thinking, I did win $70 so that is why I feel reenergized, but truly I feel that my tank is full.
Alright its off to bed for me, tomorrow I am going to find out how to get linked to all of my friends blogs so they can read my posts and comment, RIGHT! I'll comment back I promise! GOODNIGHT!

Naptime
My sanity depends on the time frame when all three of my children are in their rooms either resting or sleeping. Today Riley must not understand that mommy might go CRAZY if he doesn't go to sleep! So finally after about an hour I decided to cuddle him a little to get him to settle down and he fell asleep in seconds! woohoo now I will be sane for the rest of the day until naptime tomorrow...oh wait tomorrow is wednesday, so I don't get my quiet time, but I am away from them all day so it is great to finally see them!
